(LOS ANGELES) — Jordan Smith, a 21-year-old college student from Kentucky, is your new The Voice champion.
The bespectacled singer, a member of Adam Levine’s team, was named the season-nine winner of the NBC competition on Tuesday night. He finished ahead of runner-up Emily Ann Roberts of Team Blake Shelton.
Emily Ann’s teammate, Barrett Baber, finished third, and Team Gwen Stefani’s Jeffery Austin finished fourth.
After host Carson Daly made the announcement, Jordan was joined onstage by Adam and family members. He then reprised his performance from the previous night: “Climb Ev’ry Mountain,” from The Sound of Music.
This is Adam’s third win as a coach on The Voice.
The two-hour season finale was filled with musical performances by both the finalists and special guests.
Jordan teamed up with occasional Voice coach Usher for a rendition of David Guetta and Usher’s “Without You.” Jeffery joined Tori Kelly for Tori’s “Hollow.” Emily Ann and Ricky Skaggs performed Ricky’s “Country Boy.” And Barrett joined Wynonna Judd on “No One Else on Earth.”
Each finalist also welcomed back eliminated Voice artists for a performance. Barrett and teammate Zach Seabaugh took on Randy Travis’ “Forever And Ever, Amen.” Jeffery and Madi Davis sang Amy Winehouse’s “Tears Dry On Their Own.” Jordan invited Regina Love, Mark Hood, Evan McKeel, Amy Vachal and Korin Bukowski for a cover of Journey’s “Anyway You Want It.” And Emily Ann brought in Ivonne Acero, Morgan Frazier, Shelby Brown, Nadjah Nicole and Riley Biederer for “Summer Nights” by Rascal Flatts.
That’s not all. Voice coach Pharrell Williams, who did not have any artists advance to the finals, joined Missy Elliott for a performance of “WTF (Where They From)” on a set designed like a New York City subway station. Justin Bieber was on hand to entertain viewers with “Sorry.” Coldplay played “Adventure Of A Lifetime” alongside dancing gorillas. The Weeknd delivered a medley of “Can’t Feel My Face” “The Hills” and “Earned It.” And Sam Hunt showcased his tune “Break Up in a Small Town.”
The Voice will kick off its 10th season on February 29. Christina Aguilera will return from hiatus and sit near Adam, Blake and Pharrell.
