WASHINGTON — All trading has been temporarily halted on the New York Stock Exchange.
A major technical issue occurred at 11:32 a.m., according to the stock exchange, which says it is working to resolve the issue.
Trading stopped right at that point.
The problem affects only the New York Stock Exchange. Investors can still trade on the Nasdaq.
Here’s what the stock exchange wrote on its status page:
“NYSE/NYSE MKT has temporarily suspended trading in all symbols. All open orders will be cancelled. Additional information will follow as soon as possible. Customers with questions may contact the NYSE Trading Services Desk at 1-212-896-2830.”
The New York Stock Exchange, owned by Intercontinental Exchange, has had technical difficulties in the past, but The New York Times reports the “scale of the problem on Wednesday has little precedent.”
