The Avery, a new boutique inn, could soon be nestled on P Street NW in Georgetown.
The Avery Georgetown LLC has proposed building a 15-room inn in the two small existing office buildings at 2616 and 2620 P St. NW. Samantha Schneck, one of the company’s principals, told TopShelf she chose the name because Avery is her daughter’s name.
Schneck envisions a modernized inn property that improves upon the bed and breakfast model with amenities such as a daily champagne reception or an honor bar. She expects to appeal to embassy guests or Georgetown University families who are looking for a place to stay that offers a neighborhood experience.
The plans call for a gut remodel of the interior of the rowhouse-like buildings, which previously housed law offices, but no changes to the exteriors, she added.
Plans for The Avery are in their very early stages: The Advisory Neighborhood Commission for Georgetown will get its first chance to review the proposal Jan. 5. Schneck hopes to be open by September 2015.
“We plan to bring a lot of cool ideas to it to modernize the inn concept,” Schneck said. “We’re hoping the neighborhood embraces it.”
