Suspect in New Carrollton Metro carjacking arrested

WASHINGTON — A suspect has been arrested in connection with a carjacking at New Carrollton Metro Station.

Darius Andre Jennings, 20, surrendered to police Dec. 23 and is being held in D.C.

The carjacking occurred on Sunday, Dec. 7, around 5:30 a.m., when a woman was unloading her child from the backseat of a Toyota Rav4. The suspect approached her with a gun and told her to get out with her child but leave her purse.

Jennings is charged with theft, assault, robbery and carjacking, among other charges.
