D.C. co-working space Affinity Lab is losing the lease to its U Street NW location, causing its new ownership group to withdraw its purchase offer.
Mike LaRosa, a co-working consultant (and former Washington Business Journal employee), announced Dec. 18 he was leading a group of investors to purchase Affinity Lab.
In an email sent Monday to members of the space, LaRosa said the landlord at 920 U St. NW “unexpectedly terminated all negotiations for a lease renewal,” leading the investors to make “the difficult decision to withdraw the offer we made to acquire Affinity Lab.”
As a result, Affinity Lab will close Dec. 31.
Before the end of lease negotiations, LaRosa had announced plans to institute a more flexible design in the Affinity Lab office. He also was preparing to unveil new membership recruitment efforts and a revised pricing model.
Architect Suman Sorg owns the building.
