Leading permits: Digging for 1000 F, Muriel Bowser’s home security

It’s been a struggle putting together a permit post in the last week, but here’s what I’ve cobbled together in the midst of holidays and vacations and government closures. Happy New Year! We’ll see you in 2015.

  • 515 Oglethorpe St. NE: Mayor-elect Muriel Bowser will be sworn in on Friday, and the Metropolitan Police Department will protect her home in the same way it has for former mayors, with a fence along the property line and a security booth on her property. The permit was issued Monday.
  • 1000 F St. NW: Sheeting and shoring and related excavation for Douglas Development’s 1000 F, an 11-story, 92,160-square-foot trophy-class office building with ground-floor retail. An historic two-story building will be incorporated into the project, and there will be 45 parking spaces on two below-grade levels, hence the sheeting, shoring and excavation. The permit for the building construction was issued in early December.
  • 3600 Albemarle St. NW: Foxhall Real Estate LLC will construct a new five-bedroom house.
  • 148 W St. NW: Conversion from single family to flat, with interior alterations to the basement to include a new kitchen and bathroom and new lighting.
  • 42 Rhode Island Ave. NE: The basement in this home will be converted into a separate unit, with new partitions and electrical and HVAC systems.
