Bethesda Green startup mentorship program accepting 2015 applicants

The Montgomery County Department of Economic Development and a number of other funders, including Bethesda-based Honest Tea, are sponsoring an expansion of the Bethesda Green startup mentorship program.

Bethesda Green, partnering with the Mentor Capital Network, will accept another 15 companies for business plan advice, mentoring and the chance to pitch to investors.

The program aims to develop startups with a focus on environmental sustainability.

The 2014 participants “reflected a range of green innovations and services from energy waste recapturing to eco-friendly landscaping,” according to a press release.

Applications for the 2015 round will be accepted through Jan. 15 and qualifiers will be announced Jan. 22.

“The spectrum of the local green economy is vast,” Steve Silverman, director of Montgomery County’s economic development department, said in the press release. “Our partnership with Bethesda Green and the Mentor Capital Network helps us to find promising entrepreneurs ready to tackle energy and environmental challenges.”
