WASHINGTON — Don’t be surprised if you see Colt McCoy today, should Robert
Griffin III struggle in San Francisco when the 3-7 Skins take on the 49ers at
4:25 p.m.
According to
an ESPN report, head coach Jay Gruden could bench RG3 if the franchise
quarterback doesn’t react to the harsh words Gruden delivered after last
Sunday’s loss to Tampa Bay regarding Griffin’s fundamentals. The benching
could be something that lasts longer than just Sunday’s game.
McCoy is technically 2-0 as Griffin’s substitute, RG3 is 0-3 as starter, and, in
the only other game Griffin started, against Jacksonville, Kirk Cousins ended up
winning, after Griffin went out with a dislocated left ankle.
Washington is on a two-game losing skid, but the low point in the season so far
is losing to the Bucs last week, at home, after a bye week.
