WASHINGTON – Just in time for Christmas, a doll that shows a young woman
with normal proportions, is for sale.
The Lammily doll is known as the normal
Barbie and is only available online.
The doll is based on what a typical 19-year-old woman looks like.
Artist and researcher Nickolay Lamm says his doll promotes realistic beauty
standards.
Like Barbie, the doll has her own line of clothing.
A crowdsourcing campaign made the doll a reality.
More than 22,000 orders have been placed.
In January, a sticker package, called Lammily marks, will be sold.
It will let
girls add everything from bruises and mosquito bites to cellulite, stretch
marks and freckles to the dolls, USA TODAY reports.
Other stickers will include acne, glasses and temporary tattoos.
