BALTIMORE (AP) — Democratic Rep. John Delaney is declaring victory in Maryland’s 6th Congressional District, but Republican challenger Dan Bongino isn’t conceding.
Bongino said on his blog and in a Facebook post Wednesday that the race remains too close to call.
The first-term congressman led the former Secret Service agent by 1.2 percent, or 2,166 votes out of 179,973 cast by Tuesday at polling places. At least 5,847 absentee ballots remain to be counted, starting Thursday.
The district includes Maryland’s three westernmost counties and parts of Frederick and Montgomery counties in suburban Washington.
