MEXICO CITY (AP) — Four men and a woman died in Acapulco from a shooting inside a bar in a neighborhood away from the tourist zones of the Pacific resort city in southern Mexico, officials reported.
A brief statement late Friday from the Guerrero state prosecutor’s office gave few details of the bloodshed. It said the four men all died in the bar and the woman died after being taken to a hospital
Guerrero is known for violence from social unrest and gang rivalries, and the state is currently tense over the disappearance of 43 college students that prosecutors have blamed on a mayor and police in an inland area.
Elsewhere in Mexico, authorities Saturday that a total of five bodies had been found within 24 hours in La Paz, a city in the southern part of the Baja California peninsula. A statement from the Baja California Sur state government said three bodies were found gagged and handcuffed on a beach and the other two dead were found in separate spots in La Paz, which is the state capital.
