VANCOUVER, British Columbia (AP) — Radim Vrbata scored the winning goal midway through the second period to lead the Vancouver Canucks to a 3-2 victory over the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday night.
Chris Higgins and Daniel Sedin also scored for the Canucks (5-2-0) and Henrik Sedin had two assists. Ryan Miller had 27 saves.
Nail Yakupov and Will Acton score for the Oilers (4-4-0), and Ben Scrivens stopped 15 shots.
Higgins took a long pass from Alex Burrows and shoveled it over Scrivens’ left shoulder 1:19 into the game on Vancouver’s first shot. Just over two minutes later, Daniel Sedin banked it a pass from brother Henrik in off Scrivens’s back to make it 2-0.
Yakupov beat Miller with a wrist shot at 5:07 of the second period, but Vrbata restored the two-goal lead about 6 1/2 minutes later.
Acton closed the scoring at 1:57 left in the second period.
