WASHINGTON — Leesburg police are investigating the death of a 10-month-old girl after doctors found what they considered to be suspicious injuries.
The baby girl was initially taken to a Loudoun County hospital Friday but was transferred to Children’s National Medical Center in D.C. for treatment. The toddler was taken off life support and died Sunday, according to Leesburg police.
Doctors contacted Loudoun County Child Protective Services because of the baby’s suspicious injuries. The D.C. Medical Examiner’s office is expected to conduct an autopsy Monday.
The child lived on Great Laurel Square SE in Leesburg, according to police.
