Norfolk State edges Savannah State 14-7

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) — Tyler Clark threw for one touchdown and ran in another in the first quarter Saturday to lead Norfolk State to a 14-7 win over Savannah State.

The Spartans (2-4, 2-0 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) cemented the win in the fourth quarter when D’Metrius Williams broke up a fourth-down pass by Savannah State’s Tino Smith to take over the ball on downs with 1:54 to go, then ran out the clock.

Clark finished 9 of 16 for 153 passing and kept the ball for 19 carries to add another 106 yards on the ground. Isaac White had three catches for 69 yards, including a 21-yard touchdown grab for Norfolk State, which has won two straight games.

Savannah State (0-5, 0-2) tied the game at 7 in the first quarter with a 34-yard TD pass from Leon Prunty to Jeremiah Harris, and missed a 48-yard field goal in the second quarter.
