Duquesne beats D-II West Liberty 39-13

PITTSBURGH (AP) — Dillon Buechel threw for 330 yards and two touchdown passes to lead Duquesne over Division II West Liberty 39-13 on Saturday.

Buechel connected with Dave Thomas for a 25-yard touchdown pass midway through the first quarter. Wayne Capers ran for a 2-yard score and Marcus Hughes added a 5-yard touchdown run to help the Dukes jump out to a 22-0 lead at the break.

Buechel then hit Chris King with a 73-yard touchdown strike early in the third quarter to make it 29-0. King finished with seven catches for 142 yards. Capers ran from 1-yard out early in the fourth quarter to cap the scoring for Duquesne.

The Dukes (3-2) have won three-straight since dropping its first two and have an eight-game home winning streak.

Dakota Conwell threw for 134 yards and two touchdown passes in the third quarter to avoid the shoutout for West Liberty (2-3).
