WASHINGTON — A street and a neighborhood in D.C. have been named among the 10 best places in the country.
The American Planning Association named Adams Morgan one of the 10 best neighborhoods in the country this year, and Pennsylvania Avenue one of the 10 best streets.
So why Adams Morgan? The planning association says that the nightlife and cultural diversity have a lot to do with it, as well as the restaurants, festivals and farmers markets. They also cited the work of 2012’s Streetscape Project, a $6.8 million project which upgraded public spaces and area infastructure, adding trees and parks and made the area more pedestrian- and bike-friendly.
The professional association of city planners said that Pennsylvania Avenue was one of the 10 best streets for its mix of civic spaces, public buildings, monuments, parks, hotels, theaters and, of course, the White House.
