Clemson QB Deshaun Watson out with hand injury

CLEMSON, S.C. (AP) — Clemson starting quarterback Deshaun Watson left the game against Louisville in the second quarter with a hand injury Saturday.

The school announced that Watson would not return.

Watson appeared to hurt his right hand during a 9-yard run. He remained in for one additional play before coming to the sideline where he was examined before walking off with trainers to the locker room.

Watson, a freshman, had accounted for 792 yards and 10 touchdowns the past two weeks in wins over North Carolina and North Carolina State.

Senior Cole Stoudt, who was the starting quarterback in Clemson’s first three games, came in to replace Watson.
