WASHINGTON — Joanne Borgella, who competed on the seventh season of “American Idol” and made it to the Top 12 of that season’s female finalists, died Saturday after a yearlong battle with endometrial cancer at the age of 32, multiple entertainment sources report.
The Long Island, NY native also competed on and won the first season of Oxygen’s “Mo’Nique’s Fat Chance.” Borgella went on to sign with Wilhelmina Models for a modeling career.
Borgella last year shared a video with her fans to say she was diagnosed with cancer and that it had spread to her chest. She had since chronicled her treatment on her Facebook page.
