BRAMWELL, W.Va. (AP) — All-terrain vehicle trail systems are bringing new life to two coalfield towns in West Virginia and Virginia.
Bramwell Mayor Louise Stoker tells the Bluefield Daily Telegraph (http://bit.ly/1wuMHr2 ) that her town’s economy has improved since a section of West Virginia’s Hatfield-McCoy Trail System opened in Mercer County in 2012.
Stoker says trail riders are starting to participate in community activities, such as festivals and concerts.
Pocahontas, Virginia, Mayor Benjamin Gibson says the new Original Pocahontas Trail already is attracting riders to his town. The trail opened earlier this month and is part of Virginia’s Spearhead Trail System.
Gibson tells the newspaper that he believes Pocahontas and Bramwell can do cross promotions in the future.
