OTTAWA, Ontario (AP) — B.C. quarterback Travis Lulay re-injured his right shoulder late in the Lions’ 7-5 victory over the Ottawa Redblacks on Friday night in the Canadian Football League.
The former Montana State star was making his first start since injuring his throwing shoulder in a goal-line collision last September. He wasn’t available for comment after the game.
“He’s being evaluated by the doctors,” Lions coach Mike Benevides said. “We’ll find out more as the night goes on.”
Lulay completed 18 of 27 passes for 167 yards and ran for 50 yards on five carries.
“Honestly, my heart sunk into my stomach,” Lions running back Andrew Harris said. “You know, a guy that battled back so hard and to just go out like that … he didn’t really get hit, the ball just slipped out. It’s just tough. He works so hard, plays with so much heart, and you can just definitely tell he felt the same kind of feeling he felt before.”
Lulay had offseason surgery on the shoulder and started the season on the six-game injured list. He dressed the previous three games as a backup, seeing action late in the last two.
Paul McCallum kicked two field goals for B.C. (6-4).
