BEDFORD, Va. (AP) — The owners of a retirement community have bought the Elks National Home in Bedford for $4.6 million.
Media outlets report that the sale of the Bedford landmark to Mike Williams and Steve Orndorff was completed last week.
Williams and Orndorff also own English Meadows Senior Living Community in Christiansburg. The Bedford facility is now known as English Meadows’ Elks Home Campus.
Orndorff says the company plans to invest $500,000 in renovation of the Bedford facility.
The Benevolent Order & Protective Order of the Elks built the retirement home, which was dedicated during World War I. Thousands of visitors come to Bedford each winter to see the facility’s Christmas light display.
Williams and Orndorff say they will continue the light display.
