Dawn Halfaker served in several leadership positions as a Military Police Officer in the U.S. Army and deployed with the 3rd Infantry Division where she commanded a military police platoon in Iraq in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. She was subsequently wounded during a combat patrol near Baghdad in 2004, earning a Purple Heart and Bronze Star for her service.

In addition to her military service, Ms. Halfaker worked in Congress serving as a military liaison to the House Armed Services Committee where she advised the committee chair on key Department of Defense legislation and issues. In 2005, she worked with the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA), specializing in technical consulting for the Defense Sciences Office. Her mission included initiating research to provide advanced capabilities to the military and enhance warfighter capabilities.

In 2006, Ms. Halfaker founded Halfaker and Associates, LLC, a professional services and technology solutions firm that advises and assists government organizations on issues of national and global significance. With over 100 employees and growing, her company is dedicated to Continuing to Serve and regularly devotes their time to making a difference in the community and supporting Veterans and Wounded Warriors.

Ms. Halfaker is currently the President of the Wounded Warrior Project’s Board of Directors. Additionally, she served on the Secretary of Veterans Affairs Committee for OIF/OEF Soldiers and Families and is actively serving on the Secretary of Labor’s Advisory Committee for Veterans Employer Training and Employer Outreach and the Department of Veteran Affairs Readjustment Committee. Ms. Halfaker also participates as a member of the Advisory Board for Humana Military Health Systems, ThanksUSA and Paradox Sports.

Ms. Halfaker holds a Bachelors of Science degree from The Military Academy at West Point and a Masters of Arts in Security Studies from Georgetown University.

Ms. Halfaker was selected as one of the 2013 White House Women Veterans Champions of Change and the company was chosen as one of the Washington Business Journal’s 50 Fastest Growing Companies (at # 18). Ms. Halfaker has recently received the Women in Technology 2013 Leadership Award, the 2013 Red Cross Tiffany Circle Distinguished Woman Warrior Award, the 2013 Castle Connolly National Health Leadership Award, the 2012 Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year
