ATLANTIC CITY, N.J. (AP) — New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says former Baltimore Raven’s running back Ray Rice showed “an incomprehensible level of violence” toward his fiancee during an assault in an Atlantic City casino elevator.
The Ravens cut the former Rutgers University star on Monday after TMZ released video of the assault that occurred inside an elevator at the now-closed Revel casino in February.
Christie, speaking Monday at a news conference in Atlantic City, was asked about the video and Rice’s release from the team.
The former federal prosecutor said Rice displayed “an incomprehensible level of violence” toward Janay Palmer, who was Rice’s fiancee at the time and is now his wife.
Christie termed Rice’s actions “completely unacceptable.”
