2 Va. Revolutionary War militiamen to be honored

HARRISONBURG, Va. (AP) — Two Revolutionary War militiamen will be honored in Shenandoah County with grave-marking ceremonies.

Both Jacob Nehs and George Adam Zirkle moved to the Shenandoah Valley after the war.

The Daily News-Record (http://bit.ly/1rn3zAh ) reports that the ceremonies will be conducted on Oct. 4 by the Colonial James Wood II Chapter of the Virginia Society, Sons of the American Revolution.

Jack Lillis with the chapter says the ceremony for Nehs will be held at 10:30 a.m. at Solomons Lutheran Church cemetery west of Forestville. The ceremony for Zirkle will be held at 1 p.m. in Zirkle Cemeterynear New Market.

The keynote speaker for each ceremony will be Robert Andrews, who is a descendant of both men. Zirkle’s sister married Nehs’ brother.
