A new Bankrate.com survey finds 36 percent of working-age Americans have not saved anything for retirement, and 14 percent of those at retirement age — 65 or older — have no retirement savings.
Among working Americans under 30, 69 percent haven’t started saving for retirement.
Bankrate’s survey does have some good news. Americans who are saving are starting to save earlier. Twice as many 30- to 49-year-olds started saving in the 20s as opposed to their 30s.
According to the survey, millennials feel more financially secure than any other age group, in their jobs and with their financial situation.
Overall, Bankrate says twice as many Americans say they are less comfortable with their savings, compared with a year ago, than those who are more comfortable.
