DEL MAR, Calif. (AP) — Istanford led all the way in winning the $96,350 Sandy Blue Handicap for 3-year-old fillies by 3 1/4 lengths at Del Mar on Friday.
Ridden by Rafael Bejarano, Istanford ran a mile on the turf in 1:34.18 and paid $4.60, $3.20 and $2.60. She carried high weight of 124 pounds in the 10-horse field.
Miss Machiavelli returned $10.20 and $6.80, while Tiz Kissable was another 1 1/4 lengths back in third and paid $6.60 to show.
The victory, worth $57,060, increased Istanford’s career earnings to $385,425, with five wins in 11 starts.
Istanford had been withdrawn from the Grade 1 Del Mar Oaks on Saturday to run in the Sandy Blue.
