TEMPLE HILLS, Md. (AP) — Prince George’s County fire officials say firefighters rescued two residents of a Temple Hills apartment who retreated to their balcony to escape a blaze.
The fire broke out early Tuesday morning in a second-floor unit at a three-story garden-style apartment building. Fire officials say two residents of a third-floor apartment couldn’t make it down the stairwell because of smoke and heat, so they went to their balcony.
Fire crews used ladders to rescue the two people. All other residents were able to escape before firefighters arrived.
Fire officials say the blaze started in a living room, and occupants of two apartments have been displaced.
