RICHMOND, Va. (AP) — Gov. Terry McAuliffe’s education chief has appointed a 20- member committee to study the Virginia public schools’ Standards of Learning.
Secretary of Education Anne Holton selected the members of the Standards of Learning Innovation Committee, which will hold its first meeting July 15 in Richmond.
The committee announced Monday consists mostly of educators and school administrators. It will be tasked with making recommendations to the Virginia Board of Education and the General Assembly on ways to improve SOL tests and student growth measures, and encourage innovative teaching.
