WASHINGTON — The Peace Corps announced Wednesday it is pulling workers out of three African nations due to increasing spread of the Ebola virus.
The 340 workers in Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea will temporarily be removed, the Peace Corps said in a statement released Wednesday. They will decide later when the workers can return.
The decision came after two American volunteers were exposed to the virus when they had contact with an individual who died of the virus in Liberia. Both are symptom free, a Peace Corps spokesperson says, but are now isolated and under observation.
Once the two are cleared medically, they’ll be returned to the U.S., says the spokesperson.
