Park Police offer public alerts for July 4 in DC

WASHINGTON (AP) — Visitors to the National Mall for the Independence Day celebration can sign up for event information and emergency notifications from the National Park Service.

The U.S. Park Police department says it will be using the Nixle Community Information Service to deliver public safety information online, email and through cellphones.

The public can subscribe to receive alerts, advisories and event information for the District of Columbia July 4th celebration by texting “July4DC” to 888777. For email notifications, the public can subscribe for the service at www.nixle.com and by searching for the U.S. Park Police.
