ANNAPOLIS, Md. (AP) — Police have arrested a Maryland man and charged him with kidnapping a 12-year-old girl in Annapolis.
Police say they arrested 52-year-old Cordell Salisbury of Churchton on Sunday. Police say Salisbury was arrested after the girl reported that she had been abducted Saturday in the area of Skippers Lane and South Cherry Grove Avenue. The girl told police that she was walking when a man pulled her into his vehicle, drove her to a nearby street and attempted to assault her.
Police say the girl was able to run away and that she was not injured.
Police say the girl guided them to the vehicle, which was parked but unoccupied, and that Salisbury is the vehicle’s owner.
Salisbury’s mother said in a telephone interview she doesn’t believe her son is guilty.
