LOUISA, Va. (AP) — An upcoming exercise will test state and local response plans and procedures in the event of a radiological emergency at the North Anna nuclear power station.
The exercise is scheduled for July 8. A dress rehearsal for the exercise will be held Tuesday.
The Virginia Department of Emergency Management says the dress rehearsal will help participants refine their procedures and response plans before the full-scale exercise is held. The Federal Emergency Management Agency will evaluate the full exercise.
State departments participating in the tests include Emergency Management, Health, Transportation, Social Services, Military Affairs, Agriculture and Consumer Services and State Police. They will be joined by emergency response personnel from local governments and Dominion Virginia Power.
