New publisher named for Fairbanks newspaper

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) — A newspaper veteran has been selected as the new publisher of the Fairbanks Daily News-Miner.

William Dean Singleton, whose family has owned the newspaper since 1992, announced (http://is.gd/DcXr6U ) that Marta “Marti” Buscaglia began work Monday as publisher.

The 61-year-old Buscaglia has been the vice president of advertising for the Anchorage Daily News for the last two years.

Buscaglia said she and her husband, Tim, have fallen in love with Alaska over the past few years, and she’s excited to join the News- Miner.

Buscaglia was president and publisher of The Duluth News Tribune in Duluth, Minnesota, from 2002-2007.

Before that, she served in senior management positions at the Baltimore Sun, St. Paul Pioneer Press, Long Beach Press Telegram, El Paso Times and Gannett Suburban Newspapers in New York.
