WASHINGTON — At American University, there’s little buzz on campus surrounding the men’s basketball team’s big win in Boston Wednesday.
The victory over Boston University gave American an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament and sent the Eagles to the big dance for just the third time in school history.
But it came as AU was on spring break.
With most students back home, a small but passionate group followed its team up north.
“There were about 50 of us there,” says sophomore Lee France, who stayed on campus during spring break to work as a building manager. He and other students traveled by bus, leaving D.C. at 8 a.m. Wednesday, and returning less than 24 hours later.
