WASHINGTON — Ordering a large pizza is a good idea for many reasons–more pizza, more to share with friends, more leftovers–but perhaps the best one is that it’s actually a better deal.
According to NPR, this is because sizes are deceiving. While it may seem like a 16-inch pizza is twice the size of an 8-inch pizza, it’s really four times the size. And, while a 16-inch pizza costs $16.59 on average, buying four 8-inch pizzas would cost almost double, or $33.
NPR took the time to gather 74,476 prices from 3,678 US pizza places, and the findings hold true. A larger pizza is always better, their report found.
