More retailers are opening and building out at CityCenterDC in downtown D.C. as the first phase of the mixed-use development prepares to come online later this year.
Allen Edmonds, a high-end men’s shoe store, will open Wednesday at 1071 H St. NW, next door to Tumi, according to project developer Hines. And Longchamp, the French luxury handbag and leather goods retailer, may not be far behind.
Longchamp is currently seeking contractors to fit out its retail space at CityCenterDC, according to a popular database that collects information on projects out for bid for contractors. Construction Data Co. listed the Longchamp fit-out among its “hot projects” for the first week of February.
I’ve reached out to Hines and will report more when I hear back. A spokesperson for Longchamp said via email she didn’t have any information on the store.
It would be the first standalone store in the region for Longchamp, which specializes in fine leather goods for men and women. The brand’s products are currently available in the D.C. area at some department stores.
Allen Edmonds is an American shoe company that has made its men’s casual and dress shoes since 1922.
Both retailers fit with the high-end retail Hines has been working to attract to CityCenter. Allen Edmonds shoes range in price from $150 to $400. Longchamp’s signature Le Pliage tote starts at $150.
Among the other stores and confirmed or rumored for the site are Burberry, Kate Spade, and Tumi. So, basically they’re creating a handbag lover’s dream.
