WASHINGTON – Christmas is less than a week away, so that means that this weekend is full of holiday-themed events.
Scheduled for Friday night at the Black Cat, the “Krampus Kristmas” DJ party will feature staff-curated sets of punk, garage and metal.
The venue’s listing for the event humorously notes, a Krampus is “a goat-like creature with chains that likes to steal children around the holidays.”
Blues Alley has two holiday events scheduled this weekend — jazz/soul vocalist Lynne Fiddmont turns in a Christmas set Saturday, and D.C.-based Redd Brothers perform Sunday.
Scheduled for Saturday, the U Street Music Hall‘s “Future Times Holiday Party” will feature two live acts — Bookworms and Protect-U.
Scheduled for Sunday, the National Symphony Orchestra performs Handel’s Messiah at the Kennedy Center.
Elf the Musical continues its run at the Kennedy Center Opera House through Jan. 5, with several performances this weekend.
Also scheduled for Sunday at Jammin Java, the “Santa Cluster-f@%! Christmas Spectacular” promises 60 musicians playing holiday songs without ever rehearsing and with “minimal cursing,” according to the event’s website.
Some of the featured players include Bobby Thompson, Ben Tufts and Luke Bridley.
