WASHINGTON – A Maryland man has been arrested for impersonating a police officer.
Jonathan Lee Conner, 31, was arrested Tuesday evening at his home in the 1200 block of Steamboat Road in Shadyside, Md.
Earlier in the evening, a man reported that he had been pulled over by a man driving a tan Chevrolet Caprice that was made up to look like a police car.
The victim says the suspect turned on lights mounted on the car to pull him over.
After the suspect got out of the car, walked to the victim’s window to tell him he had been pulled over for speeding, the victim became suspicious that the man wasn’t wearing a uniform or wearing a badge.
The victim drove away and reported the incident to police.
Officers from the Anne Arundel County Police Department searched the area around Shadyside Road near Dent Road, and found the Caprice with mounted lights and antennas in Connor’s driveway.
After speaking to Conner, officers arrested him and charged him with various traffic violations, as well as Impersonating a Police Officer and False Imprisonment.
Police are asking anyone who may have been a victim of the suspect’s to contact the Anne Arundel County Police Department, Southern District at 410-222-1965.
