WASHINGTON – On Veterans Day, a local bridal store will give away wedding gowns to thank our nation’s military brides.
It’s part of a nationwide campaign called Brides Across America, which has given away more than 10,000 bridal gowns.
“This is our mission to say thank you and support our heroes,” says founder Heidi Janson.
She says it’s tough for military brides to plan their weddings because of deployment, injuries and/or a lack of money.
The general manager of Jeanette’s Bridal in Manassas, Va., says that the store will give away about 150 gowns to brides who are either in the military or whose fiance is in the military. Brides must pre-register for the event and there’s a $20 registration fee.
The store’s General Manager Kiera Ogden says this is the fifth year Jeanette’s Bridal is taking part in the charity event.
The store opens at 10 a.m. Monday and the gowns will be given away on a first-come, first-serve basis to registered brides, Ogden says.
The bridal salon is at 10386 Festival Lane, Manassas. For more information, brides-to-be can call 703-369-1998.
