Two local business magnates rank as the richest people of their respective states, according to a new list released Wednesday.
Wealth-X, an “ultra high net intelligence provider,” has listed the 50 wealthiest American individuals by state.
Forrest Mars Jr., the third generation heir to Mars Inc., is the richest person in Virginia, with a net worth of $20.1 billion, coming in eighth on the list. Washington Nationals owner and real estate mogul Ted Lerner is considered the richest person in Maryland, with a net worth of $4.1 billion, coming in 27th on the list.
Other notables to make the list include: Bill Gates (Washington state) with a net worth of $70 billion; Warren Buffett (Nebraska) with a net worth of $59.8 billion; and Michael Bloomberg (New York) with a net worth of 21.4 billion.
