The 31st Annual Turkey Chase is coming.
The Thanksgiving 10K race and 2-mile fun run/walk through Bethesda is set for 8:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 28. As always, it will start at the YMCA Bethesda-Chevy Chase (9401 Old Georgetown Rd.).
Almost 10,000 runners typically participate in the event, which has raised more than $1.5 million for charities of the YMCA and Bethesda-Chevy Chase Rotary Club since 1992.
Runners can register here and find more information here. Until race day on Nov. 22, registration is $45 for the 10K, $20 for the two-mile and $10 for the 50-meter Kid’s Run.
At stake is the Principal’s Prize, a contest for local public and private high schools to drum up interest in the event. The public school that has the most registrants identify it as a “favorite high school,” will receive a $1,000 check. The top vote-getting private school will get $500.
As of last weekend, Walter Johnson is in the lead with 247 registered runners, followed by Whitman (222), Bethesda-Chevy Chase (165) and Churchill (90.)
