SILVER SPRING, Md. — When you ask folks here, if the town of Silver Spring is “hip,” not all know exactly how to answer.
But local resident Melena Lloyd’s reply is clear: “No. No. Not at all.”
Lloyd is a millennial, a young adult between the ages of 20 and 32 — a group that Montgomery County is targeting in hopes that this younger generation will come live within its borders.
A task force created by the county executive has been working since early in the year to come up with ideas. And Monday night the task force came to an agreement on a set of proposals, including allowing bars to stay open later and relaxing noise restrictions so that live music can be played later into the night, The Washington Post reported.
The chair of the task force tells WTOP that they are now preparing a report for County Executive Ike Leggett, who will then decide how to move forward.
