WASHINGTON – In the midst of the government shutdown, Georgetown University is giving furloughed federal employees a chance to learn some new skills through free college courses.
This is the second round of classes the university is offering through its School of Continuing Studies. The initial classes offered earlier this month filled up in a matter of days.
Georgetown says the classes are designed to be relevant for government workers.
Employees are limited to one class apiece, and a number of the classes have already reached full enrollment.
Of the remaining open classes, the sessions range from a quarter-day to one day, and registration is on a first-come, first-served basis.
