WASHINGTON – Thieves stole about 100 keys to a public housing community in Southeast D.C.
The keys to apartment homes at Barry Farms were taken when the management office was burglarized overnight. Staff discovered the burglary Tuesday morning and notified affected residents, says Richard White, spokesman for the D.C. Housing Authority.
“Each of the homes that was affected will have a new lock set on the the front and a lock set on the back door,” White says.
Workers were busy Tuesday evening replacing the locks.
“The staff will not leave until it is finished,” White says.
Despite the new locks, one resident tells WTOP that she is concerned about her neighbors’ and her own safety.
