Bernadette’s House is pleased to announce its official opening and inaugural networking and fundraiser event on Thursday, November 14th from 6 to 9 pm at the Historic Oakland Manor (5430 Vantage Point Rd, Columbia, MD 21044).

This newly launched community outreach organization is dedicated to teenage girls of parents struggling to survive in today’s depressed economy, especially single mothers, struggling to raise teen girls in a world often plagued by violence and crime. Bernadette’s house offers a structured and safe after school and weekend program that will benefit any community in the Columbia, Laurel area of Maryland.

“Many youth come from homes where one or both parents are absent due to extenuating circumstances, and/or poor life choices,” says Carol Nash, Founder of Bernadette’s House. “In such cases, these girls fall through the cracks and are often exposed to damaging environments filled with violence and destructive behaviors leading to poor self-esteem, and lack of respect toward themselves and others. Bernadette’s House is dedicated to the training, education of life skills, and social learning in order to promote self-esteem and confidence, and afford youth the opportunity to become productive members of society.”

Bernadette’s House is a proud partner of the Laurel Boys and Girls Club. All initial operations for Bernadette’s House will be housed at the Laurel Boys and Girls Club located at 701 Montgomery Street, Laurel, MD 20707.
