The Ann Taylor store in Old Town Alexandria will close early next year, making way for a new retail tenant in the space.
The store will close when its lease ends at the end of January, confirms Melissa Webb of the Rappaport Co., the real estate broker marketing the space at 115 N. Washington St.
The building has 4,854 square feet on the ground floor and 4,000 square feet below with a 400 square foot mezzanine.
Whatever replaces Ann Taylor would join a mix of large national retailers — Anthropologie and H&M recently moved in — and smaller, local boutiques. Alexandria’s shopping scene is front and center in the city’s new branding campaign, Extraordinary Alexandria, which highlights retail, restaurants, romance and the arts.
I’ve reached out to Ann Taylor’s parent company, Ann Inc., to see if they are seeking space elsewhere in the neighborhood, and will update if I hear back.
