WASHINGTON – Yet another candidate for D.C. mayor may toss his hat into the ring, joining an already crowded field for the city’s top job.
The Washington Post reports that Restaurateur Andy Shallal is weighing a run for mayor. He convened a meeting Wednesday of supporters at one of his four Busboys and Poets locations to consider what his message would be and what impact the campaign could have on his businesses.
Shallal declined to discuss his political ambitions with the Post but said he would make a final decision in a few weeks.
So far, three D.C. councilmembers and a former State Department official have already announced they are running. Mayor Vincent Gray has not yet said whether he will seek re-election.
