WASHINGTON – Two people — an adult and a teen — were killed and four adults at a graduation party were wounded after three separate, unrelated crimes in the District Wednesday night.
Two of the incidents occurred in Northeast, while the third happened in Southeast.
The violent confrontations took place within about 2 hours and 15 minutes of each other, The Washington Post reports.
In an incident near the Watts Branch playground — not far from the Prince George’s County border — 42-year-old Dawon Markham of Mitchellville, Md., was shot several times. The shooting reportedly occurred at about 8:30 p.m. in the 200 block of 62nd St. NE. Markham died at the hospital, the Post says.
Police said a 17-year-old also died after being stabbed at about 9:20 p.m. in the 4600 block of Hillside Road SE.
Then at about 11 p.m., witnesses told the Post someone targeted a graduation party in a shooting that occurred in the 1200 block of 42nd St. NE.
Police said four adults were injured, but none appeared to have life-threatening wounds, according to the Post. Police said a dark-colored Acura sped away from the scene.
