When MicroStrategy Inc. reshuffled its executive level management last fall, the company set off a chain of events that prompted Washington Redskins quarterback Robert Griffin III to make off-the-field headlines with his recent purchase of a new home in Creighton Farms.
Last October, the Vienna-based software company rehired former Executive Vice President Paul Zolfaghari as its new president. Zolfaghari had left MicroStrategy in January 2011 to serve as chief operating officer of California-based database company ParAccel Inc. His return to the East Coast meant sorting out his housing options, and as real estate broker Casey Margenau told me, that meant RGIII had to go. You can find photos of his new home here.
Confused? Well, it turns out RGIII had been renting Zolfaghari’s five-story home on Emerald Dunes Place in Leesburg. Zolfaghari decided to put that home on the market and buy a new one, Margenau said.
McLean-based brokerage Margenau & Associates has been retained to market Zolfaghari’s house The asking price is about $1.1 million. Margenau also happened to broker the sale of RGIII’s new Creighton Farms home on behalf of that property’s seller, Apex Custom Homes CEO W. Scott Prendergast.
The two abodes have plenty of similarities. Both are in well-to-do residential communities in Leesburg, are well-appointed and have plenty of choice areas to seat friends for Sunday football. There appears to be just one flaw in Zolfaghari’s home. Margenau’s marketing brochure shows a TV in the theater room tuned to what appears to be a Baltimore Ravens game.
