WASHINGTON – CBS News reports that Honda is recalling 686,000 Fit and Jazz subcompacts worldwide, including 143,000 Fits in the U.S., because of a problem with the switch that controls the power windows.
“The switches can get damaged and then overheat and potentially catch fire,” says Katie Kerwin with Auto Beat Daily in Detroit.
Honda recalled Fit and Jazz 2007 and 2008 model year cars in 2010 to fix the seal on the power window switches and keep them dry.
“Now they have discovered that the replacement wasn’t robust enough and that they are not completely blocking out leakage in some cases,” Kerwin says.
